Welcoming 2025 Heveningham Concours Scholar at the Royal College of Art

At the start of the academic year the Heveningham Concours team were invited to meet the 2025 scholar, David Wareham. The RCA’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Lindner, gave a rousing speech to the new intake in the Dyson Building café, Battersea, London. After this we were fortunate to chat with Professor Lindner about the focus of the RCA and plans for the future under his leadership. It all sounded exceptional and gave us pride to be a part of this community. After this we were pleased to meet this year’s Heveningham Concours Scholar, David Wareham. David was enthralled to be studying at the prestigious institution and was already hard at work on the separate elements of the one-year Masters’ course. He was gracious in thanking the Heveningham team for the scholarship stating that:
“I’m absolutely thrilled that through this scholarship, I’ll be joining this community of forward-thinking designers and researchers – it’s exactly the opportunity I needed to advance my work and hopefully make a real difference in how we approach intelligent mobility.”
Heveningham Concours is proud to support this exceptional Master’s program at the Royal College of Art, widely recognized as the world’s leading art and design institution, as part of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of visionary automotive designers who will shape the future of mobility with the same passion for excellence and innovation that defines our concours d’elegance.
Heveningham Concours looks forward to seeing the fruits of David’s Masters’ degree, we are sure it will be impeccable and wish him all the best.

Celebrating Royal College of Art Vice Chancellor Paul Thompson

The Heveningham Concours team attended a spectacular leaving party at the Royal College of Art (RCA) to celebrate the remarkable career of Dr. Paul Thompson, marking the end of his transformative 15-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor. The event, held at the Rausing Research and Innovation Building, highlighted Dr. Thompson’s significant contributions to the institution and his impact on art and design education. It has been incredible for the Heveningham Concours team to work with such a dynamic and impressive leader over the years. As well as a formidable operator Dr. Thompson is a thoughtful and good natured person we have had the pleasure to get to know.
Under Dr. Thompson’s leadership, the RCA experienced a dynamic expansion of its research base and curriculum. He was critical to it being named as the world’s best design school for the past ten years running.
Dr. Thompson oversaw significant physical expansions at the RCA, including working with Herzog & de Meuron to create a major new building, the Rausing Research & Innovation Building, in 2022. This 16,000 sqm facility integrates core scientific disciplines with fine art and design to address global challenges, providing cutting-edge resources for both faculty and students. It houses the Intelligent Mobility Masters’ degree programme for which Heveningham Concours provides a student scholarship each year.
Heveningham Concours wishes Dr. Thompson all the best with his new endeavour as Chair of the British Council Board of Trustees.
